After providing public notice in August 2023 for the proposed Order of Approval for General Metals of Tacoma to install a Shredder Emission Control System, The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency has issued this final Order of Approval. This project will remove approximately 215 tons per year of volatile organic compounds from the shredding process. In exchange, the control devices will produce approximately 12 tons per year of nitrogen oxides and 14 tons per year of carbon monoxide. This project will remove General Metals of Tacoma from the major source air operating permit program.
