[ARCHIVED] Permit for Public Comment & Public Hearing - King County Solid Waste - Cedar Hills

The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency will hold a public comment period and public hearing on a proposed permit for King County Solid Waste Op Sec Cedar Hills landfill to expand the landfill and begin receiving waste in a new area, referred to as “Area 8”.

The emissions associated with this project could total up to 152 tons per year of Non-Methane Organic Compounds, including 7.71 tons per year of Toxic Air Contaminants, with the highest TAP estimated to be Toluene at 1.68 tons per year.

PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION

The Agency has completed a review of application No. 11307 and has made a preliminary determination that the proposal meets all the requirements of Agency Regulations I, II and III and should be approved.  Review of the environmental impacts of this project were evaluated by the King County Solid Waste Division on July 10, 2010 and issued an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that the agency will rely on for this notice of construction application.

PUBLIC COMMENT

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, from 5pm to 8:30pm at the Lake Wilderness Lodge located at 22500 SE 248th St. Maple Valley, WA 98038. The Agency will accept oral and written comments at the hearing and also any written comments received before the close of the hearing per WAC 173- 400-171. The Agency will review and respond to all comments received and the comments and responses will become part of the public record.

The application and the information considered in making this preliminary determination are on file and available for inspection at the Agency’s office located at 1904 3rd Ave, Suite 105, Seattle, Washington, telephone (206) 689-4010.  The proposed Order No. 11307 is also available at the Agency’s website www.pscleanair.org.  Written comments with respect to proposed Order No. 11307 must be mailed to Ralph Munoz, Engineer, at Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, 1904 3rd Ave, Suite 105, Seattle, Washington 98101, faxed to Ralph Munoz at (206) 343-7522, or e-mailed to RalphM@pscleanair.org before the close of the comment period on Friday, May 24th at 4pm.
